I just returned from Haiti recently and had a wonderful time with our Haitian family! It was the first time I was able to meet the five new boys who were rescued from a trafficker that was trying to get them into the Dominican Republic. These boys are so resilient. They have settled in with this big, beautiful family and feel like brothers already! It’s the clearest sign of the Spirit of God being on that land. The love that is there between all the kids and the way the new children are accepted so quickly is touching. I can’t help but hold back tears when I see all the good that He is doing with the children!
My favorite part of this trip were the nightly devotions. The house mom Nousline lets the older boys lead the teaching, worship and prayer. Nelson, Michel, and Rolando led one of the nights I was there. The twins got into the action as they decided to come up and sing a song of their own! It was precious. Then all the kids began to recite something in unison, I leaned over to Daniel to ask what they were quoting and he told me Psalm 113. I was moved deeply by all the children knowing this section of Scripture by heart. It literally sounded like music to my ears, I can only imagine what it sounded like to the Father! He must look at them with such love and joy. This group of children know it was He who rescued them. It’s He who provides for them. It’s the Father who will guide them in their future. Such a sweet moment in time that I’ll never forget. Then they broke out in worship and then everyone knelt to reverently pray. Not a moment is missed by our Heavenly Father. He has breathed life into each one of those children and now with their breath, these children are saying His words right back to Him. It was such a worshipful time or praise and adoration to the One who gave it all for us. The Father has given them a future and a hope, purpose and a destiny, for these children are “kings and priests before their God” (Revelations 5:10). Take some time and meditate on Psalm 113 today!
Psalm 113 - God the Helper of the Needy
Praise the Lord! Praise, O servants of the Lord; praise the name of the Lord. Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time on and forevermore. From the rising of the sun to its setting the name of the Lord is to be praised. The Lord is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens. Who is like the Lord our God, who is seated on high, who looks far down on the heavens and the earth? He raises the poor from the dust, and lifts the needy from the ash heap, to make them sit with princes, with the princes of his people. He gives the barren woman a home, making her the joyous mother of children. Praise the Lord!
