Introducing Our Partnership With Adventist Help In Greece
May 21, 2016
We are excited to announce that we are partnering with Adventist Help, a fantastic organization, to help support the refugee crisis in the Middle East. Our thoughts and prayers have been with the families seeking asylum for the past many months and we are grateful to now have the opportunity to help.
Adventist Help has been working tirelessly on the ground in Greece for over a year now. They have been providing medical care to refugees landing on the island of Lesvos after traveling by sea from Turkey. Now they are moving their main operations to the Oinofyta camp, located on the grounds of an abandoned factory with space to house 2,000 refugees in tents.
Right now, we are looking for short and long term volunteers and generous financial gifts.
New Reality International is planning to join hands with Adventist Help to watch how God unfolds miracles and resources to help His people. Here are some very practical ways we plan to help in the next several months:
Mobile Dentistry 1. We are immediately needing to purchase three mobile buses/trucks to be used for mobile dental care with space for sterilization autoclaves, dental chairs, x-ray units, etc. 2. We need dentists and dental hygienists to volunteer for short and long term trips. 3. We need dental supplies to treat patients [if anyone has contacts for this, especially in the EU, please email email@example.com].
Mobile/Temporary Classrooms 1. We need to purchase a vehicle and/or container to be used as a mobile/temporary school. 2. We need language teachers, especially those who can teach English in addition to French, German, or Danish.
We will be establishing schools at the camps for the children who have gone many months without a stable education. And we will be helping families learn the language of the country that has sponsored them.
We also need volunteer social workers and psychologists to help respond to the trauma most of the asylum seekers have experienced.
There are many more needs, but this is where we will begin. If you can help in any of the ways listed or know someone else who can, please email Alicia Grant at firstname.lastname@example.org.
