Dr. Joel Mickelwait is the co-founder of NRI USA and is directing the development of the PROJECT 7 Children's Village in Trou du Nord, Haiti. Dr. Mickelwait recieved a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation from Walla Walla Univeristy, and then went on to earn a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at Loma Linda University in Southern California. He has felt called to overseas missions since a young age and has been actively involved in international mission projects for the past 18 years.
Prior to his role as the PROJECT 7 Director, Dr. Mickelwait was the Director of NRI’s International Dental Relief and Education Program. In that role he mobilized dental teams to provide dental care to communities around the globe suffering from extreme poverty and having no access to any dental health services. He has experience in all aspects of construction planning, building, evaluation and construction team management. In addition to being a certified pilot and flight instructor, Dr. Mickelwait is fluent in Spanish which is helpful in Haiti and other nations where NRI serves.
Laying aside a practice in dentistry, Joel followed the call to full time ministry and is now living in Haiti to oversee the development of the NRI PROJECT 7 Children's Village. He loves the children and the thought of giving them a better future. Joel's motivation for the work he does is the thought of one day soon seeing Jesus face to face. On that day he desires to hear the words "well done, my good and faithful servant."
